You Miss So Much When You're Plugged In
It bothers me that so many people wear their iPods and tune out the surroundings, or when they are on their laptop while in the park or at the beach.
I'm guilty of spending too much time indoors and wasting it on the computer or watching tv, but when I go outside I want to hear the birds and the water.
Here's a picture that I found last night while I was browsing the surreal art forum
It's called Spring by Keith Thompson. There is alot of amazing surreal art there. I spent three hours looking.
Last Night I Had a Strange Dream
Actually, I remember having several strange dreams, but this one was the last before I woke up, so I remember it best.
I was at grandmas house, and it was evening in the fall.
The sky was a strange shade of bluish orange. I looked outside through the glass door and all the cats and dogs that I know, mine, my moms, and grandmas were looking at the sky. They were watching what I thought was the Aurora Borealis. It was all shades of color, like a rainbow of lightning and it was lighting up the clouds around it. I opened the door up to go out but I was afraid, so I was half in, half out. I yelled to Alfred to come and look at it, he was the only one there. I never took my eyes off of the sky, and neither did the animals that were sitting up in the yard.
As I was watching, I began to see the outline of a saucer, all shades rainbow lights were on it, in symbols and words, and that was what was making the lights in the sky that I thought were Aurora Borealis. It got closer, the top was spinning independent of the bottom, and the lights were changing and pulsing and the words and symbols kept changing too. For some reason, I can't remember what any of the words were, but they were neither friendy nor threatening. then I woke up, because the alarm went off.
Here are some interpretations that I found online:Cats
To see a cat in your dream, signifies much misfortune, treachery, and bad luck. However, for the cat lover, cats signifies an independent spirit, feminine sexuality, creativity, and power.Dogs
To see a dog in your dream, indicate a skill that you have ignored or forgotten, but needs to be activated. Alternatively, dogs may symbolize intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. Your own values and intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and succeed.UFO
To see a UFO in your dream, signifies your desires to find your spiritual purpose in life. Alternatively, it indicates that you are feeling alienated from those around you. The dream may also be a metaphor suggesting that you are a little "spacey" or have "spaced out" attitude. You need to be more grounded and come back to reality.Sky
To look up at the clear blue sky in your dream, denotes peace and freedom of expression. If the sky is cloudy and overcast, then it foretells of sadness and trouble.Lightning
To see lightning in your dream, signifies sudden awareness, insight, and purification. Alternatively, lightning may imply a shocking turn of events. It suggests the many forces governing your life may be beyond your control.Fear
To dream that you feel fear, signifies that you achievements will not be as successful as you had anticipated. You are having anxieties in certain circumstances of your life. However, your worries will be temporary and short-lived.
I'm not sure if I believe in the interpretation of dreams, but I have some really strange ones, and I always feel very immersed and emotional in them. They are very realistic even when the circumstances are far out.
I had another one about a place that reoccurs in many of my dreams.
It's a doctors office, or the waiting room, more specifically. The memorable part is the series of stairs and hallways leading to the office. There are walls of glass aquariums with all kinds of strange creatures in them in some of the halls. There are so many corridors and stairs that I'm not even sure how I manage to find the place. There are also many other rooms along the way. Sometimes I feel the urge to stop and enter some of them.
There are wonderous things inside each room. Some rooms are dark, and green and black. Jungle plants cover the walls, ceiling and floor. It's humid and rich smelling, like earth.
Some rooms are rainbow coloredand bright, with jars and bins of colorful candy inside.
It's an old building, I can tell because of the dark stained woodwork throughout the building and the stairways. it's an extravagant place, but it is forboding too. I am fascinated but frightened by all the things on the way to the office.
Once I finally reach the waiting room, it's very small, and very crowded. The people aren't sitting on chairs, but on church pews. When I get in to see the doctor, I realize that I'm there about my knees. The doctor is old and kind.
Sometimes I leave through the window, and there are beautiful gothic style rooftops on all the buildings that I can cross. I can see the whole city, and it's clear and seems infinite. The moon is huge and bright and round.
Alfred leaves for Costa Rica on Saturday. That's also the day of Megan's wedding reception, so I'll probably go after I return from the aeropuerto. I wish he could come too, but his plane leaves at 1:49.
I can't wait until Tuesday when he returns. I worry about him when he's away, and of course I miss him. He's been working so much this week to make up for taking off on Saturday. I was hoping to spend the evenings with him, but he's been getting home really late.
